  • Sagrada Família Basílica

    March 20 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 61 °F

The Sagrada Família is absolutely impressive and a must-see for every visit to Barcelona. The architecture is unique, full of detail and symbolism—you immediately feel how visionary Gaudí's work is. Especially the light inside, falling through the colorful stained-glass windows, creates an almost magical atmosphere.Read more

  • Can Recasens

    March 20 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 57 °F

Great spot for amazing and authentic food. After all the walking a very tasty treat.
In 1906, the Recasenses family opened a butcher shop in an emblematic modernist building of a deixeble de domenech i montaner, located on the Rambla del Poblenou. Both times are converted into a butcher shop-xarcuteria and formatgeria. After five generations, since 2003 it is the cellar-tasting can recasens that preserves much of the initial style and decoration.Read more

Malaga is famous as the sun-drenched capital of Spain's Costa del Sol, renowned as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, and celebrated for its rich history spanning Moorish fortresses and Roman theaters.
Key highlights include its vibrant, historic city center, beaches, sweet wine, and seafood, particularly "pescaíto frito" (fried fish).

Afterward, our guide recommended one of the best ice cream shops in town.
We tried Malaga, Pistachio, Nougat, and Crema de Café. Fantastic!!!!!!
Then we walked to the overlook platform between the castles and enjoyed a stunning view over the whole city.
We ended the day with a stop at an authentic wine bar and tried some very Spanish Moscato and Port wine

Major attractions include the Rock of Gibraltar, Barbary macaques, and the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.

This morning, we needed to have an early start.

We had amazing views, explored the caves and WWII tunnels, and, of course, saw the monkeys.

  • Crossing the Atlantic

    Mar 25–Apr 2, Atlantischer Ozean ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

After 8 sea days we will arrive at
    Celebration Key tomorrow.
We had a great time enjoying the ship.
I finished two 1000 piece puzzles and a few books and played a lot of card games.
For about 48 hours, the sea was really harsh, and the ship was rocking in and out of the waves.
For me, it's torture. For my husband, a lot of fun.
Then the weather improved, and you could feel the Caribbean already.
One of our daily activities is the gym, to keep up with the amazing food here.

  • The Railroad Museum, Galveston

    April 5 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

This morning, we arrived in Galveston, Texas.
It was a very time-consuming disembark because we had to pass the full border control 🙄 .
Then our Uber driver didn't show up.
We decided to visit the Railroad Museum across the street to let the rush hour pass.
It was a real treat. We took a little train ride and strolled to the exhibitions.
The most fascinating part was walking to the old train carts.

  • Brewery tour

    April 6 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 57 °F

After a busy day at the Space Museum Houston , we went back to Housten downtown and explored some local breweries.
We started with Gristworks and went then to Staint Arnold.
From there, we took the bus to get back to downtown.
By chance, we found the "Flying Saucer."
    The story behind this is:
In 2014, back in Kansas City, this was one of the barn we went there for a beer. They advertised about 200 different beers...
We became members. Sadly, over the years, this place has closed for good.
But there are still locations left, and we found one here in houston.
Fun fact is, they have found our membership number in the system.
Of course we bought new T-shirts.

  • Space Center Housten

    April 6 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

After an early morning with some great coffee and tea from the hotel lobby.
We took public transport for about 45 min and walked another 50 min to arrive exactly at 10 am for the opening of the Space Center Houston.
We booked into an astronaut training facility tour and the rocket garden tour, including the full-fledged Saturn III rocket.
Since we already Air and Space Museum experienced from Florida and Kansas, that was another impressive day.
We saw the Houston Controll Center and the training facility. What was mind opening.
Of course, there are always spectacular movies involved. But the "Walk on the the Moon" movie, narrated by Tom Hanks, was a real treat. Another unique thing we did today was touch each other and a moon rich at the same time.
We went to all the exhibitions and displays.
    It's really worth the time.
I loved the modified Boing 747 display with a model of a fake but realistic space shuttle mounted.
For about $ 28, it was an awesome day.

  • Morning stroll through Housten downtown

    April 7 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

Before we had to leave for the airport, we took some time to walk around downtown.
It is a really beautiful city and public transport is easygoing. Just tapping your credit card.
There are lots of beautiful wall art.
I'm still amazed about the fairs. Taking the bus to the airport is $ 1.25 for a 45 min ride.
I probably don't want to visit during the summer season, but just now, it's perfect.
It's definitely a place to come back.
