Kylemore Abbey and Gardens

Kylemore abbey is still a fully working abbey. Until 2010 the abbey was used as a school. In the early 1920s, nuns from Belgium, who lost the abbey during the Ypres battle during the WWI, bought the castle and turned it into an abbey. Today it is together with the gardens one of the main tourist attractions of the area. But it was a rich businessman from Manchester, who built the castle in the 1880s.
