Charleville QLD

We had booked into, the Bush camp and cottage Park from Longreach the day before. It is a great park to stay with damper every evening around the campfire. The park doesn't allow smokers or dogs. Saturday we visited the Rock Pool 11km outside of Charleville. You are able to free camp here. Sunday we hopped on the Fire, Flood tour of Charleville, We were told about the 2 floods, one in 2010 a town flood and 2012 a river flood. A levy bank has been built along the Warrego river to stop future flooding. Fires, well there were several one was in the catholic church, not once but 3 times. Several other buildings in town were burnt. Charleville is the home of the Bilby, Cosmos centre, World War II tour of Top Secret Spy mission to commandeer the airport for the incoming American troups, Corones hotel, which was built from the dream of a greek man, Harry 'Poppa' Corones. He was an entrepreneur in his time.
