Today was a bit overcast which took away the visual delight for photography but the cooler temps made it a much easier day for walking so it’s a fair trade off I think
It was a long walk today, one of our longest but it wasn’t a hard walk, just a gradual ascent(walkers/wankers talk)🤓
It was a good start with the best buffet breakfast to date so I left with a full tummy and a little leftover for a picnic lunch
It was a pretty long walk out of Logrono and I find the city walking pretty monotonous but I did see a gorgeous dog and when I bent down to say hello I noticed he was carrying a feather in his mouth, we were meant to meet!
There were a lot of local walkers on our route out and Minnesota Meggan (real name Meagan from Brisbane but that’s a story for another day) and I saw a few sights we didn’t want to see, a couple of old blokes obviously busting for the toot so they just went - no shame there!
As we left Logrono there was a nature reserve and an old Spanish bloke was feeding walnuts to the squirrels, he was happy to give us some walnuts and guided us on how to feed them - that was pretty special.
No exchange of common language but a beautiful moment shared
I spent today walking at different times with two of the younger girls in our group and that was a treat Lili and I walked in the morning and covered lots of topics and then Neeve spent the afternoon with me and we talked about music, travel, curiosity, boys, dreams and so many other things.
These young ones filled my cup today and reminded me that we learn as much from the kids as they learn from us if we have the time to listen and like I said in an earlier post, this walk has given me the time.
Najera wasn’t an overly pretty town to walk into but as you crossed the bridge into the old town it improved.
I’m in a cold bath now - hot water system must be exhausted by us weary Aussie’s.
I’ll then head out to explore a bit.
You know you’re walking yourself fit when you have energy at the end of the day to get out for a look around xxx
PS my glasses have been found and are Los Arcos - I kind of knew they would turn up xx
