1st Stop Baiona, Spain - Olé

It’s the end of the day on Monday, May 12. We headed out this morning from Porto after meeting our CMASAS Camino group. The bus trip to Baiona, Spain took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Christopher Geis, Executive Director of the school, was there to greet us with a big smile. He had been walking for. 26 days starting in Lisbon!

We are a group of 17 Pilgrims, 5 staff, 6 students, 3 friends, and 3 parents. Two more students from Spain are going to be joining us later in the week. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone.

We received an orientation, our Camino passports, some commemorative coins to share with other pilgrims outside of our group, and then ventured out to the grocery store to get food for tomorrow.

We had a little bit of time to explore the beach walk, 12th century castle views, and some shops before dinner, which was quite a feast! Paella, sea bass, calamari, cod, prawns, salad…quite a spread.

We leave tomorrow at 9am to Vigo. We’re all packed and ready to go!
