Not a Great Start

We are stuck in the Newark airport in NY. It is 1 am. Our flight was delayed for over 2 hrs. Then it wasn’t allow to land for ever. Then we ran out of gas and had to land in Washington to get fuel. And finally we made it to Newark but who knows when we will be able to fly out to France. We may actually miss the Tour! Prayers much needed! It is now 2:20 a.m and we just made it to the hotel . After what seemed like a never ending journey. We finally made it to the old world. We landed in Paris at 7:40am only to find out we are missing my dad’s suitcase and I left my phone on the plane! Luckily I did recover it, we will have to go to to Nice to get his suitcase (We had change our route because the delays) and on we went to take a TGV to Aix-En-Province where we picked up our rental cars and spent the day in the cute little town. After eating and grocery shopping we took the most beautiful ad adventurous drive of our lifetime! Yes I did say that just having come back from Alaska! You will just have to take my word for it as it was getting dark and we have no pictures to prove it. The mountains here are crazy beautiful and the tunnels and roads are crazy cool! Shout out to Alex for being able to redo all of our bookings flawlessly!Read more

After the longest journey ever and the shortest night of sleep, we set out to explore our backyard! We walked up the river and played around in the rocks, we also got to explore the town next to us and loved it so much. Reminded me of our time in Italy. Every wall, door, and staircase had such rich history! All this while Alex and my dad enjoyed watching the tour and learning the ropes!Read more

Exploring Medievil Towns

Charm level 💯 we went looking for groceries and happened upon this town, a real deal medieval city with a draw bridge and all! This city was stabilized in 993!!!! We walked around, had ice cream and enjoyed the most fascinating views!Read more

The Tour de France

Can you believe we hiked about 4 1/2 miles up the mountain on the alps to see the Tour? This hike was surreal, there was a certain Je ne sais quoi in the air! The landscape was gorgeous and the fact that tons of people were walking with us too was pretty cool! We arrived at the Tour and watched the caravan and the bikers go by, then we hiked on the road for about 5 miles with thousands of people. We stopped at a campground that seemed to be hip and happening and was serving food and beers and music and had such a blast!Read more

Time Trials in Nice

This day was fun! We got to experience the electrifying energy of the time trials and saw the Colombian cyclist fly by! He finished 10th. Not too shabby if you ask me. The kids cooled off in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Then we walked the streets and had a lovely dinner!Read more

Province and the Verdon Area

Finally went to a Boulangerie and oh my!!! The croissants were out of this world! We are staying at a cute little hotel in the mountains near the town of Castillon. On our way up the mountain we saw this beautiful lake full of boats with slides and we decided that’s what we wanted to do. So after breakfast we drove down to the lake and had the most fabulous time. We went to Castillon for lunch and shopping and came back to the lake to freshen up. Dinner at the hotel was delicious and a good night sleep followed! Too bad the rooster crowed so early!Read more

Lavander Fields

Today was a driving/traveling day, we drove to some lavender fields but of course they had already harvested most, so we almost didn’t get to see any lavender. However the drive (as it has been) was out of this world amazing. The mountains seem to tower over the world. The tunnels sure feel like the most incredible engineering feat! Almost scary! I will make a post on just the drives and tunnels) I am leaving a peace of my heart in the Alps and hope and pray I can one day come back! We arrived in Marseilles to take the night train to Paris! My kids are getting a world view that not many get to experience and I’m happy we can provide! Abuelo is in heaven and such a trooper! He fights through the pain so he doesn’t miss out on anything! Paris!!!!

The city of love! ❤️ We got to tour the Eiffel Tower, walked around the area in this cute little neighborhood with a thriving outdoor market, had specialty coffee, and simply enjoyed. However 16000+ steps in, 42 stairs flights and 10 miles later we were so tired and ready for rest. Tomorrow will bring more magic and I can’t wait!Read more

Sacre Coeur and Montmartre

Walked 6.37 miles total today! We went to Sacred Heart in Montmartre which I can say is one of my favorite parts of Paris. We had planned to watch the Olympic inaugural ceremony but quickly realized it wasn’t gonna be possible without game tickets, an Airbnb in the area or a restaurant reservation. So after enjoying coffee shops and marygorounds, crepes and all things Paris we went home to watch the ceremony on our own screen. I have lots of thoughts about that, but that’s another conversation. Kind of glad we weren’t there in person!Read more

Have I said this before? I love this city and this country! I’m so sad our time is coming to an end. However I’m so glad to have had this opportunity with my family. Although we are physically exhausted 😩 our hearts are full. And so are our bellies !!!! lol 😂 the baguettes and croissants 🥐 although cliche did not disappoint. Today we shopped until we dropped and walked about 10
Miles and I have to brag about how great all these kids did but Seth definitely gets the Champion title! We didn’t have a stroller for
him or an Ergo and he almost walked the whole day without being picked up… I love the way he sees the world and is excited about everything! Until next time…Read more
