Paris day 2
August 9, 2025 in France ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C
The morning started off quite slowly, a bit of a sleep in, breakfast in bed and just planning our day ahead. We were quite tired from our travel day the day before so this was much needed!
Once we were ready to start our big day we headed just down the street to find some bikes. Biking in Paris is definitely the way to go. It’s fast, it’s cheap and it’s the best way to explore the city! Our first stop was Notre Dame and man what an experience we had!
The building itself was absolutely beautiful another magnificent architecturally designed building that truely blows your mind. However our experience was a lot different to what we were expecting. As we were wandering around outside I had noticed three armed military guarding around a backpack that was resting against a seat in the middle of the square. Within a few moments panic started to set in as they started clearing everyone out. Thousands of people who were visiting Notre Dame were soon quickly cleared out as they started making a baracade around this backpack. It was quite clear they thought this bag was possibly a bomb and the entire area was evacuated. The bomb squad was called and within an hour there were police and military everywhere. Turns out a young guy and accidentally left his bag, nothing malicious. He looked highly embarrased!
From there we wandered through the beautiful streets making our way past Saint Chapelle and the Pantheon before exploring Luxembourg Gardens. They were beautiful and Oma - you would love it hear. We sat down on the lush grass, I may or may not have had a quick nap oops and just soaked in the beautiful scenery.
We had a dinner reservation at 7.30 at a famous restaurant called L’Escargot. Very expensive but we tried snails and frogs legs and to our surprise they were delicious. Our mains were just as delicious and to top it off we had a Crème Bruilee for desert - this was for you Nan x
To finish off our busy day we went and watched the Olympic Cauldron in Tuileries Gardens before heading home for some much needed sleep.
Woah - what a big day but it was absolutely amazing. We love Paris!Read more
