• Menton to Monte-Carlo

    August 14, 2025 in France ⋅ ☁️ 33 °C

Today was a jam packed day. We started the day as usual with our museli and yoghurt before heading to the train station ready for our day ahead.

We were doing a day trip today to Menton and stopping in at Monte-Carlo on the way home. We hopped on the train in Nice and wound our way along the beautiful Côte d’Azur. The stunning coastline that connects picturesque perfect little towns. Our destination though was Menton postcard perfect town known for its pastel coloured building and all things lemons!!!

Once we had arrived I google mapped our first viewpoint of the day and off we went. We climbed and climbed and climbed some more steps until our hearts were racing, legs burning and I would be lying if I didn’t say sweating until we made it to the top. Well wah woh…… we were in the wrong place. Not even a view point in sight lol, whoopsies my mistake the place we were meant to be going to was down on the beach, and guess what no stairs. DAMN! All we could do was laugh and take in whatever views we could before heading back down, slightly defeated might I add.

Once at the bottom we found a coffee shop for a little espresso hit. We needed it after that! Once caffeinated we spent our time sightseeing, weaving through narrow colourful streets, soaking in the coastal vibe, and, of course, swimming in the warm Mediterranean. There’s something magic about the water here unbelievably clear and inviting we stayed in for ages! One of the best swims yet!

By early evening we jumped back on the train and hopped off at Monte-Carlo Monaco. The vibe there was instantly different. Let’s just say Rich Rich and definitely daddy’s money! We walked through the marina staring at all of the huge big super yachts that look like floating mansions. Again window shopping our hearts galore! We then walked to the Casino where things got even more rich rich. Security everywhere, people pulling up in Lamborghinis like it was no big deal, woman holding designer bags that you know cost more then a car it was insane! I definitely felt out of place being in my trusty Birkenstocks with no makeup on so we didn’t hang around for long before heading back, jumping on the next train back to Nice.

Eventually, we made it back to our Airbnb, absolutely wiped but happy. We threw together some tacos for dinner (nothing fancy, but exactly what we needed), put on a movie, and called it a night.

One last full day here tomorrow before we head on. What another awesome day!
