• Boat Day in Croatia

    4. september 2025, Kroatien ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Yesterday started early at 7:15 am down at Split’s port. The air was cool, the sun just starting to warm up, and the whole dock was alive with groups of people heading out for their own adventures.

Our adventure for today was a fantastic boat trip exploring some of the outer islands. After checking in we were split into groups, and soon enough, Jayde and I were stepping onto our speedboat for the day.

Naturally, we claimed the best seats on board the big cushy couch at the back. It felt like prime real estate, with plenty of space to stretch out and the perfect view of the ocean.

Our first mission was the famous Blue Cave. Getting there was… intense. The ride lasted about an hour and a half, and the waves were brutal. It was the kind of bumpy that makes you laugh nervously while holding on tight. Not for the faint hearted and definitely not for you Mum!

By the time we pulled up to the dock, it was pure chaos boats packed in everywhere, skippers yelling at each other, and people trying to shove their way forward. I asked our driver why it was so intense and he said that if you don’t push in and are 5 minutes later than usual you could be waiting an extra 30-60minutes!!!

Eventually, we hopped onto a small boat that ferried us into the cave itself. And honestly? It was worth every second of the madness. Inside, the whole cave glowed with this surreal, shimmering blue light. The water looked like it was lit from a blue lamp or something it was absolutely breathtaking.

Back on our boat, we headed to our first swimming spot, and it was heaven. The water was the clearest I’ve ever seen, like swimming in glass, and so warm you didn’t even need to hesitate before jumping in. We snorkeled, floated, and just enjoyed that little slice of paradise for about an hour.

Next up was a nearby island, almost entirely dedicated to an exclusive beach club. Entry meant ordering something, so we kept it simple , one drink and some chips to share. It was definitely on the boujee side (and not exactly cheap), but it was fun to soak in the vibe for a while before heading off again.

Our last big stop was Hvar, where we had three hours of free time. We wandered the cobblestone streets, admired the yachts lined up in the harbor, and found a spot for lunch. The island had charming old buildings with a buzzy, stylish energy. We went for a walk after lunch and found this incredible resort that overlooked the water, with a magnificent pool and swim up bar. Maybe one day we said to each other……

By the time we cruised back into Split at 5:30 pm, we were salty, sunburnt, and completely exhausted. We had a quick dinner of leftovers then collapsed into bed, happily tired after a day packed with caves, swimming, islands, and adventure.
