• Our first but last full day in Athens!

    7. september 2025, Grækenland ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

We only had one full day to soak up Athens, and wow… it was absolutely jam packed from start to finish.

Our day kicked off early with an 8:00am time slot at the Acropolis. Honestly, starting the morning standing beneath those ancient marble columns was surreal. The scale, the history and the views over the city, it was all insane!! We spent about two hours wandering through the ruins, taking in the Parthenon and the views before heading back down.

Needing a little boost, we stopped at a nearby café for an iced matcha, which turned out to be incredible. With matcha in hand, we set off through the winding streets of Plaka browsing the colorful markets and picking up a few gifts and souvenirs to bring home.

Of course, no trip to Athens would be complete without trying a gyros which was our very first one, and it did not disappoint. Warm pita, juicy meat, fresh veggies, and that garlicky tzatziki. Delish!

The afternoon took a very different turn thanks to Ryan and Francesca, who had arranged for Jayde and I to do the world’s best escape room. Let’s just say it was terrifying, full of jump scares, and had us screaming and laughing the whole time. Three hours later and somehow, we made it out alive.

After all that adrenaline, we were more than ready for dinner. Ryan had recommended a Greek restaurant, and it ended up being one of the best meals of the trip. The flavors were out of this world simple, fresh, and delicious.

We wrapped up the evening back at our Airbnb, packing our bags and getting ready for tomorrow’s early ferry to Paros. Athens was a whirlwind, but what a day and it’s safe to say we made the absolute most of our time here.
