ATV Adventures

Today was our big adventure day in Milos, and we couldn’t think of a better way to explore the island than by hopping on an ATV and setting off across the island. With the freedom of the open road and the ocean always somewhere in view, we started our ride in Plaka.

The winding streets, whitewashed houses, and bursts of colour from the flowers set the perfect tone for the day ahead, there was also an incredible view of the sea below!

From there, we made our way down to Plathiena Beach. The road was full of twists and turns, but the reward was a peaceful little bay with turquoise waters where we decided to stop for lunch.

After lunch we continued on to Fyropotamos, a tiny fishing village with such a pretty beach. We set up camp here for an hour or two laying on the beach while enjoying the company of all the little kittens running about. We explored the little church perched on the hill and wandered through the ruins overlooking the sea.

The real showstopper, though, was Sarakiniko. Nothing quite prepares you for it, even if you’ve seen photos before. The white volcanic rocks stretch out like a lunar landscape, carved into big dramatic shapes! The contrast of the white rock against the deep blue water is surreal. No wonder it is called the “Moon Beach”! We wandered around, climbed over the smooth rocks, and snapped a few photos, trying to take in just how unique it all was. Sarakiniko alone is worth the trip to Milos!

Eventually we carried on to Pollonia, a small village with a slower pace that felt like the perfect place to stop before dinner after such a busy day. We laid on the beach for a while until we were both hungry and needed food!

From there, we wrapped up our day in Mandrakia, another tiny seaside village, where we had dinner at Medusa. The seafood at this restaurant is next level! We ordered the shrimp, octopus cooked in vinegar, calamari and a swordfish souvlaki. We couldn’t fault any of it, it was just incredible!

After dinner we made our way back home picking up our clean washing that was at the laundromat on the way home. Even on incredible days like these we still have to do mundane tasks like this. However laundry day often means a travel day which is exactly right! We are heading back to Athens tomorrow to start our next adventure - Turkey!!!Læs mere
