After a few fast-paced days, today was a welcome change of pace. We started with a slow, easy morning no alarms, no rush just time to reset and get ready for the next leg of our adventure.

Late morning, we packed up and made our way from Nuweiba to Dahab. The drive itself was scenic, hugging the rugged coastline of the Red Sea with the desert mountains towering beside us. As we got closer to Dahab, the town’s laid back charm started to show, a coastal oasis with a bohemian vibe, coral reefs, and world-class diving.

We arrived at our hotel and checked in, but unfortunately hit a bit of a snag. The room we were given was… not great. It was quite dirty, and instead of the bed we were expecting, we got two singles. We asked if we could change rooms, but were told there weren’t any other options available a bit of a disappointment really.

Soon after, our spirits were lifted with an incredible seafood lunch out with the group. We sat down at a local spot right by the water and ordered a mix of seafood dishes that did not disappoint. We shared butterflied shrimp, perfectly cooked calamari, and Jayde went all in with a whole fish that he actually got to choose himself which was then grilled fresh to order. On top of that, we were served an endless spread of complimentary sides, fresh salads, warm bread, and tasty dips. Everything was so flavorful and fresh, and the best part? The entire meal for us only came to about $60 NZD. Unreal.

After lunch, we headed back to the hotel for a bit of downtime. A quick rest was much needed before venturing back out to explore Dahab’s little shops and markets. The town really comes alive in the evening! A bit of shopping was done before heading to a nearby pub to meet up with the rest of the group for a tasty tropical punch! Yum!!

Before winding down for the night, we made sure to call Nan for her birthday it was lovely to hear her voice and wish her a happy day from across the world. Then it was finally time to crash.

All in all, a mixed bag kind of day. Onward to more Red Sea adventures including snorkelling in the Blue Hole!
