• Day 2 in Montenegro!

    16.–23. okt. 2025, Montenegro ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Day two in Kotor was all about exploring the Old Town and, unexpectedly, experiencing our first bit of rain in months!

We started our morning the same way we usually do slow and simple. After breakfast, we layered up in our rain jackets and set off for the town, walking along the edge of the water. Even with the drizzle, it was a beautiful walk. The bay looked calm and moody, and there was something peaceful about having the path almost to ourselves.

Once we made it into the Old Town, we started wandering through the little streets and alleyways. Kotor’s Old Town is like a maze but in the best way. Around every corner was something new, souvenir shops, quiet squares, old stone buildings, and the smell of fresh pastries drifting from bakeries. We popped into a few shops, had a look around, and managed to find a postcard to add to our travel collection. Success!

Then it was time for one of the highlights of the day another custard slice. They are a traditional delicacy here and we had one yesterday and knew immediately we’d be back for another. Honestly, they might just be the best custard slices we’ve ever had, Jayde agrees too which is huge as Jayde is a custard square connoisseur. They were flaky, creamy, and so addictive. We may even be back for a third!

With our sweet tooth satisfied, we kept exploring and stumbled upon a beautiful little viewpoint. Even with the grey skies and misty rain, the view over the rooftops and out to the bay was amazing totally worth the wet walk.

Eventually, the rain picked up a bit, so we slowly made our way back to the apartment. Once we were home and dry, we made a late lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon tucked inside, doing a bit of travel planning and relaxing. Later on, we made dinner and had a quiet night in a cozy end to a slower, more reflective day.

Rain or not, Kotor continues to impress even when it’s a little gloomy outside.
