    11. januar, Antarktis ⋅ ☁️ -1 °C

Today was overcast but the clouds lifted a bit to reveal snowy mountains by the time I set foot ashore.

The nearby glacier was quite active, resulting in a few calvings. One was bigger and caused some motion of the ocean but it wasn't too bad. Transport of guests ashore stopped temporarily until the water calmed down. Guests at the shore were asked to move to higher ground just in case. Only small waves broke on the shore but it was best to be safe.

I walked to the viewpoint and felt out of breath by the time I got there. I am a bit unfit!

I had time to see the pengin rookeries on the way down. Quite a few penguins had 2 chicks and some were quite big already.

Orcas and a humpback whale were spotted in the bay.
