    Historic Quebec

    August 2, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Our hotel is beautiful and over looks the park Jardin de Governeur. After breakfast overlooking this site, we headed out early to the Citadelle of Quebec. We toured this active base of the Royal 22nd Regiment before watching the changing of the guard - an impressive and more logical display than in Ottawa but less theatrical. We were then able to tour the second residence of the Governor-General in the citadelle. Then over to the Hotel du Parlement, for a tour of Quebec's provincial parliament...More politics! We walked along the city walls on our way back into the old town, before heading down to the lower town on the St Lawrence. The Rue du Petit-Champlain is apparently amongst the narrowest streets in north America...definitely not by British standards! Quebec is much more touristy & tacky than the other places we've visited but nonetheless pictuesque. After another day on our feet, back to the hotel for a brief afternoon respite.Read more
