    A morning on the Maine coast

    Our first breakfast in the USA was notably by one thing - sugar. Sugar in the bagel, the milk, the butter, the juice... There's a 'weather advisory' out for where we are, which translates to 'hotter than the surface of the sun'. Our walk around Portland in near 40 degree heat was both beautiful and sweaty. We left Portland to visit the oldest lighthouse in Maine but stepping out of the air conditioned car into the thick hot air was distressing. We ploughed on however to take part in an all-American experience - batting cages ☺ At just a dollar for 16 balls we had a go at a variety of speeds and managed most with some degree of success.
