    Venice on foot

    December 21, 2016 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 6 °C

We eventually left Cafe Noir to visit the Ca'Rezzonico. We are still not entirely sure what this museum was; it had two floors of 18th/19th century salon-style rooms all decorated and furnished, and a top floor of art. Amongst all the early modern religious art (in which it seems everyone spent their time naked and pointing...), there was a stunning sunset over Venice from the top floor of this museum. We walked through the Cannaregio on the way home - a massive detour north of the Grand Canal but apparently a key cicheti route. Whilst we didn't find any cicheti that took Ben's fancy, we did get a beautiful view of Jupiter (apparently) over Venice. For the first time since landing, we also got lost...and by the time we made it back to the hotel, having travelled the same alleys four times, (via the prosecco shop) I had racked up nearly 31,000 steps for the day.Read more
