We arrived early in Skagway but with no excursions booked took the opportunity to have a lie in. We strolled the streets of this Klondike gold rush town, restored to its gold rush hey-day with many buildings restored by the National Parks Service. Walking out of town, along the railroad and river, we then returned and picked up a tour by bus through the winding mountains and valleys that went all the way to the Yukon!
The four-hour tour took in spectacular scenery and we were lucky enough to have the weather with us and a great bus driver who was an excellent guide talking about the Skagway, the legend of Soapy Sam and the history of the gold rush.Read more
