Arichonan Clearance Village

This walk visits the haunting ruins of Arichonan, a township which was the scene of a riot during the Highland Clearances in 1848. Landowners terminated the leases of tenant farmers so they could put sheep on the land. Some families emigrated to US, Canada and Australia. The site has fine views down Caol Scotnish.Read more
