After arriving at Dulles airport we took an Uber taxi to the storage company to see our Coach for the first time in over 2 months. She still looked great, but needed to run the generator to charge the batteries to start the engine. Temp in high 80's and we're not used to that. Stayed overnight in the coach in the storage place, shattered after a long day.Read more

Up early & on the road again, everything seems to be working on the coach, only thing we found were a few sparrows nests in the awnings. Heading up I66 into the Shenandoah Valley to Skyline Ranch Resort for a few days via Walmart in Front Royal for supplies. Another scorcher with temp in 90s, even the locals say its hot !! Thunder, lightening & torrential rain late evening, but an hour later the ground is dry. Islay View in between 2 fifth wheels.Read more

Skyline Ranch Resort

This is a great place to chill, so decided to stay a few days. The temps are in the 90s, glad we have air conditioning. We've had a busy couple of days reorganising the compartments outside so we can fit in our Brompton foldup bikes we brought from the UK. Also unpacked cases and moved things around inside and we still have empty cupboards for more stuff. We're taking daily walks round the campground checking out the RVs. Saw fireflies & bats last night as it was getting dark, which was cool.Read more

Cleaning Day

Stew's doing the outside & I'm doing inside. I've got the best deal as its mid 80'sF and sunny, but cool inside with the aircon on. Glad the icemaker is working well Stew's needing an endless supply of cold drinks.
Hope to go to the pool today, they closed it yesterday just as we got there as there was a storm on the way. Thunder & lightening, bit not much rain.Read more

Walmart Shippensburg - off I81

Moved north today through 26 miles of West Virginia, 12 miles of Maryland and now in Pennsylvania at our second home, Walmart. They get a good deal out of us staying overnight in their parking lot as we've just spent more than a few bucks in the store !! Of course we get a good deal too, free camping !!
Gone back in time, we're in Amish country, a family has just arrived in a pony and trap & parked in a stable on the edge of the parking lot. In the grassy area on the other side of the coach we've got wildlife, rabbits, sparrows and what we think are marmots.Read more

Twin Grove RV Resort

Great setting in the hills on the edge of Swatara State Park, Appalachian Trail is just south of us. Temp is still in mid 80s. Our neighbour Karl is originally from Braintree, not Essex like Stew, but Massachusetts. Note chill glasses in the freezer before adding beer !!!Read more

Swatara SP - Appalachian Trail

Still at Twin Grove RV Park, got the Bromptons out and went for a ride on the Swatara Rail Trail. Crossed the creek on the Appalachian trail bridge. Great trail through the trees, so we were in the shade most of the time, good job as temp was nearly 90F, even the Bromptons needed a rest. Stopped at the store for an icecream back at the RV park. Once the bikes were back in the compartment under coach we went down to the pool to cool off. Leaving tomorrow as park is fully booked. Next stop, somewhere north of here !!!Read more

Walmart Again

Drove north up I81 to Dickson City. Overnight stop at Walmart, with dinner at the Red Robin burger joint just down the hill from our parking spot. No side walks or crossings, everyone here drives everywhere, walked down the grass verge & dodged the traffic at the lights. Madlove special burger & bottomless fries were superb, as was the Samuel Adams Summer Ale & Boston Lager.Read more

Still slowly heading north to Syracuse, NY, were not allowed to stay in Cortlandville Walmart, city rules. So stopped in a rest area for the night with a few big trucks for company. Lovely sunset !!!

Monaco International Rally

Arrived at the New York State Fairgrounds just as the thunderstorms started. Efficient parking, followed a couple if guys in a golf cart to our spot in the middle of a loads of other Monaco coaches, Stew is beside himself, doesn't know which way to look !!! Rally doesn't start until Wednesday, but we already have our goody bag with lots of info, rally pins and food & beverage badges.

Rally In Full Swing

Busy couple of days, attending seminars to find out how our coach works. Also a good opportunity to have work done, wipers changed & our heating system serviced. Meeting and talking with lots of new people, who are so friendly & interested in what us Brits are doing touring their country. Getting information overload with tips & places we 'must' visit. Breakfast & dinner are now provided, food is good, a great Bluegrass band played after dinner. Great sunset as we walked back to the coach.Read more

After dinner William Florian entertained us with stories & songs from the 70/80s. Bob Dylan, Peter Paul & Mary plus others. He was in the US folk band New Christie Minstrals where the likes of Kenny Rodgers started he was pretty good had everyone singing along.Read more

Caravan to FMCA Rally

US style caravan setting off to West Springfield Massachusetts, 8 coaches travelling together. Just had a heavy rain shower, luckily forecast is dry for the 232 mile journey east. Rained most of the way & went through 3 tolls. Kinda hard to stick together, but we made it.Read more

Caught the shuttle bus to Turning Stone casino, amazed at the number of people playing the slots & tables. No gambling for us, only here to eat BBQ at the Tin Rooster, great food, country music playing & line dancing waiting staff. Great views from the 21st floor of the Tower.Read more
