Gorge Harbour to Blind Channel

We have essentially been retracing our footsteps from a couple of years ago when we traveled to the Broughtons. We have been told the Johnstone Strait can be unpleasant so we have avoided it where possible. As a result winding through the Broughtons takes you to stunningly beautiful places which we don't mind seeing again.

We left Gorge Harbour at 11:00 and made a mostly leisurely transit through Uganda Passage. I was on the helm and following a pre-planned route through the passage. There was some kind of glitch in the matrix and the route had me turning directly into a rock! I panicked and thought the whole system was incorrect and ended up taking us into a very shallow area. We got through unscathed but the lesson I learned was that I can trust the electronic charts but that you should ALWAYS preview an automatically generated route!!

We had an uneventful ride through Yaculta Rapids, Gillard Passage and Dents rapids just before slack at 15:30 and carried on to Blind Channel Resort. We met for a visit on the patio and then went out separate ways for a late supper with a few of us turning in early.Læs mere
