    Meteor Crater

    We came to see the Meteor Crater because it was on our way but it was ABSOLUTELY worth the stop. The crater formed 50,000 years ago when a large meteor struck the ground at a steep angle. It was traveling so fast it took only 10 seconds for it to hit the ground after it entered the atmosphere. Because the location was and is desert, the site has been well-preserved with little erosion or plant life growing around and over it (essentially hiding it from the naked eye).
