• Day 13

    September 27, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Effectively this is the last day of the Camhino Portugese when all things being equal I should arrive in Santiago de Compostela sometime this afternoon . I'm lying in my bunk with very mixed feelings first of all I know it's not the end for me as I intend to rest for a few days and then complete the 90K walk to Finnistre on the coast. So the challenge goes on and I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed the actual walking everyday the sights and beauty and kindness and grace I have encountered along the way and the real sense of achievement one feels when you arrive at your bed for the night and the great delight little touches bring like getting a bottom bunk near the window or someone bringing you a coffee or a cold drink when you arrive hot and bother or do your laundry !!! but I know I will miss all the people I have shared so much with over the last two weeks , be it just a smile , a conversation as we walk together through wonderful scenery ,a shared meal. a lovely coffee a drink of an evening, a laugh. a dorm and many little domestic dramas along the way and the really strange co-incidences that occured with alarming regularity .Which probably in the real world don't seem any big shake but in the cacoon that is a Camino can really start one to think .

Anyway no big rush off today although it it quite a long day and I know the paths will be busy I actually know my destination if not my path as I'm staying in the Seminario Mentor where I stayed last year and loved . So it's 5am now the dorm is silent apart from some gentle snoring. So I'll give it a while and head for s shower before the rush but won't set of until I say goodbye to some folk here. Rain forecast for all day today just another adventure I suppose
