• Vik Black Beach & Dyrholaey

    4 Ogos, Iceland ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

We were not sure what to expect in Vik …. (No planning 🤣). So here it is::

    1) suddenly, LOTS of tourists are everywhere . In the East or North, we didn’t see so many travellers. Here, everything changes.

    2) amazing beach and coast scenery . We visit the impressive black beach (it is BLACK) - and very dangerous !! 2 days ago, a tourist drowned here, from the evil sneaker waves . The waves are indeed massive and scary.

    3) Dyrholaey - a huge rock in the sea, with a lot of bird life. Even though super cold +windy, we keep walking around. We meet some puffins again

    4) Eyafjallajökul - always in the backdrop. Another big glacier , after we have said good bye to the humongous Vatnajökul. Eyaf. is the fellow that brought Europe air-traffic to a halt 15 years ago… when it erupted.

We stay in a very cool hostel, cook Fajitas and sleep. Tomorrow, we take a bus to Thorsmoerk - where our car cannot go. Too rough .
