  • Flying to Paris via Singapore

    May 18–19 in Singapore ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

We left early in the morning (4 AM) to park at the airport and caught the shuttle. It was strange to be doing it all in the dark and then watch the sunrise from the plane. I didn't get tired until the last leg and watched movies on the plane. We were lucky that both times there was a seat empty between us.
In Singapore we had a short transfer but had a look inside the butterfly garden. So humid! 🥵 At the gate the rain arrived.
I got a bit of sleep on the second flight, only about 2hr. We went through security like a whirlwind in Charles de Gaulle but had to wait ages for our luggage. Then had to buy a train ticket and walk to our hotel so only got to sleep at midnight. A looong day! 😴

    Paris to Belgium

    May 19 in France ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

I woke up early with the sun, after about 5hr sleep. We had breakfast overlooking the 14th arrondissement and beautiful weather. Yummy breakfast with real French croissants, cheese and pain au chocolat. 😋
After breakfast we did some errands and shopping, we bought a painting from the artist next door to the hotel and some pastries in the street behind.
We checked out then caught the train to Orly to pick up our hire car. It took a lot of getting used to everything before we drove into Paris, through it and north to Belgium. There were a few false turns but nothing major. However there were crashes and does so we arrived later than planned with my cousin. She had to be out that evening so we stayed and had a quiet, relaxing night.
