Breakfast at Caffè degli Specchi

Wanting at least one truly traditional Triestine coffee experience, we headed to Caffè degli Specchi for breakfast.

We made it there just before the weather turned — and then absolute chaos erupted outside. Thunder, lightning, sideways rain, violent wind gusts… people came rushing into the café looking for shelter while we sat inside watching the spectacle unfold. It genuinely felt a bit like a Titanic lifeboat scene 😄

Meanwhile, breakfast arrived: I went fully classic Italian with pastries and a tiny moka pot served alongside hot milk, while Sanjay chose a heartier Balkan-style breakfast. Elegant historic café meets apocalyptic thunderstorm — quite the experience.Leia mais
