Chandeliers & a Well-Earned Break

I emerged from the Underground at Green Park station with one destination in mind.

Well…

Two, actually.

The first was The Butlington Arcade.

I’d seen photos beforehand, but walking through it in person was something else entirely.

Crystal chandeliers hung from the beautifully decorated ceiling, elegant shopfronts lined both sides of the arcade, and every display window seemed to contain something that cost more than my monthly rent.

Could I afford anything in here?

Absolutely not.

Did that stop me from enjoying the architecture and window shopping?

Not in the slightest.

Sometimes it’s fun to admire beautiful things, even if they’re destined to stay in the display case.

By now, however, another need had become far more pressing.

Hydration.

After another long afternoon of walking, I ducked into The Queen’s Head, a wonderfully cosy pub tucked away just around the corner.

It somehow managed to feel both old-fashioned and trendy at the same time.

Exactly the kind of neighbourhood pub I enjoy discovering while travelling.

I ordered a chilled glass of rosé, along with the most important drink of the afternoon—a large glass of water.

Sitting there, giving my feet a well-earned rest while watching London drift by outside the windows, felt like the perfect reset before the evening’s entertainment.
