Today we played Castlerock Golf Club in the Village of Castlerock.
Castlerock is the farthest north we are going in Northern Ireland .
It was a nice day once again, the wind was high reaching up to 50-60km per hour .
The course is a traditional links course , however the fairways especially around the greens were very bumpy which could result in bad bounces as you approached the green . There ere many deep bunkers throughout the course which is normal in a traditional links course . We definitely had to play bump and run shots.

Celeste and I played together and we hired caddies . Both caddies are retired guys who were very knowledgeable about the course and the greens . My caddie ( Jerry) was a pure delight to talk to as he pointed out many landmarks and features in the surrounding villages as we toured the course .

On the 17th tee, we were facing north and he pointed out a large peninsula and said that was Southern Ireland . I asked him to repeat it a couple of times and finally figured out that was Ireland except the locals don’t like calling Ireland , Ireland and they refer to it as Southern Ireland .

For dinner we stayed in the hotel restaurant. Our bus driver - Vinny came into the restaurant right after us and was sitting by himself so we asked him to join us . We had a lovely evening as he was telling us all about Ireland and some of the things we are going to see as we head south. His accent is quite thick and he has a great sense of humour.
