Fine hotel, but way too close to the freeway. Traffic noise seems to intensify late at night. Sort of a cool looking building though...a converted warehouse.

The 2nd night was better--we ran the fan constantly instead of on auto, and it drowned out a lot of the freeway noise.Read more

  • Hatch Bar, The District, Irvine, CA

    April 17, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

A hilariously sanitized tiki bar amidst other sanitized theme-type establishments. Everything was sparkly clean and new, and kind of like a cartoon version of whatever it was supposed to represent. The tiki place had immaculate kitchy decor. Tastefully untasteful. It won't last I'm sure. BUT, they had a nice selection of local craft beers and some unique cocktails. We found a great corner to hang out in. Really nice evening. Would I recommend that bar in particular? Of course not. Everything in the District is interchangable. But it was fine.Read more

I've been here a couple of time while visiting my brother and I really like it. They do seasonal farm tours in a tractor buggy vehicle. We did the featured Strawberry tour this time, which involved cruising around the farm sampling other fresh veggies (carrots, onions, green beans, etc) and then culminated in a huge strawberry patch where everyone had 15 minutes to pick and eat strawberries. The tour price wasn't cheap ($18pp) but I felt like it was a good value. A great way to get the kids outside and to see where food comes from. Kind of a disappearing experience.Read more

  • Bottle Logic Brewing, Anaheim

    April 17, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

Breweries are all comfortingly similar--industrial to industrial-chic decor, average-joe bearded guys at all the bar stools. Some of them have average beer, some have great beer. Bottle logic has great beer. We got two flights for a total of 10 (4oz) beers, and there were only a couple we didn't finish. It was a beautiful day, although I overheard it gets "hot as balls" in there in the summer. Like many breweries they don't splurge on stuff like temperature control. If you like trying interesting, unusual, good qualities beers, this is a great place to do it.Read more
