Salkantay Trek here we come

Salkantay Trek day 1, part 1. We were up and going by 3:40. Not loving it so far but after taking an Uber to the city to get in the bus we are starting! We had breakfast and then kept driving till we made it to the mountains proper! It is gorgeous I’ll give it that. We are starting at Soraypampa. Elevation made this a hard start despite this supposedly being the easy day…? We were behind our group by a lot right off the bat. They would wait for us as we were getting info from Vlad, our tour guide, as we went. We were going to Humantay Lake. It was about 2 miles up and 1000ft elevation change. It was raining at the top but was very lovely. I nearly cried from the relief of making it. Vlad seems like a cool guy and it’s interesting to start meeting the people who we will be with all 5 days. They are all European and clearly actually in the fit category whereas we are realizing already we may be just scraping the bottom of moderately fit.もっと詳しく
