• A day adorned with natural splendor

    26 czerwca 2024, Indonezja ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We started our day with a quick breakfast at the villa before meeting our driver, Leping. We headed north into the middle of Bali with our first stop at Leke Leke Waterfall. It was a 15 minute walk to the falls across some uneven and slippery steps...and even an Indianna Jones style bamboo bridge. The falls were amazing and everybody queued up to capture their instagram moment.
We continued our trip north heading up winding mountain roads and the weather looked to be closing in on us. We arrived at The Blooms Garden which was almost entirely covered in mist. This mini Botanical Garden featured some amazing sculptures and garden beds. Each area had its own unique theme. The mist began to clear and the sunshine changed the whole look of the gardens. After lots more instagramable photos we headed into town to get some lunch.
We stopped at a buffet restaurant overlooking the volcanic lake - Danau Beratan. After lots of Goreng, corn patties, cooked veggies and black rice pudding we headed to the main attraction - Ulun Danu (water) Temple. What an amazing place! There are a collection of temples with one being on a small island just off the water's edge. Plenty of places to get great photos...even with the big crowds that were around. There was an unusual petting zoo and Haydn was keen to make friends with an iguana called Ocky.
A quick petrol stop and the obligatory slow traffic meant we were getting back in the dark. We decided to stop for an early dinner at the local Balinese version of a Swiss Chalet. We were greeted by a snow flurry as we got to the front door. Nobody told us we needed a beanie! We weren't hungry enough for fondue so we stuck to something a bit more traditional. Michelle was doing a running commentary on the State of Origin, the person who knows the least about Rugby League - NSW won! What an amazing day!!
