Travel to New York and First impression

Flew with Aer Lingus and although it’s a long flight. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Never done a long flight but it didn’t seem to bad with the inflight system to keep me amused. So managed to watch 2 films.
Aer Lingus obviously is run by the Irish (Celtic hospitality) because they keep you fed and comfortable. Pillow and blankets if needed. Plus snack, then a rather tasty meal, tea, coffee, water and another light meal.
After flight it was a very long wait at passport control. Bloody hell-photographed and finger printed. We are not criminals it’s just standard.
But after that it was quick to get the Airtrain then a quick transfer to Long Island Train line and 2nd stop at Penn Station. We walked out of the station to find our hotel The New Yorker right in front of us. After dropping off our bags-we had a wander around to get our bearings. Big bus, Brooklyn Bridge

Well today so far we walked our feet off even although we took the bus around the lower loop of Manhattan. Got on the bus at Times Square then off close to the Brooklyn Bridge. This gave us time to walk over the Bridge before stopping at Time Out Market over at Dumbo for some hot chocolate and a bagel. Then it was on the bus to complete the loop
So far 16000 steps even with a bus tour. But all those steps meant it was Doughnut timeRead more

Day at 9/11 memorial, Staten island

Another busy day. Up early and set off to catch the subway to the World trade centre. A sobering walk around the 9/11 memorial before walking down to catch the Staten Island ferry. The ferry leaves at least every 30 minutes 24 hours per day and goes passed the Statue of Liberty. Once on the island my sister and I had a walk around before heading back across. We then caught the Subway back up the Grand Central Station.
We then had a visit to the New York public library before a little saunter through Macy’s.

4 slice of pizza and 2 medium sodas Delicious and a bargain at under $30

Metropolitan Museum and Central Park

The Edge and Highline

Took a stroll towards the Edge and had a great laugh at my poor sisters expense. She’s a little wary of heights and it is high. We then had a wander towards Chelsea Markets were we had some lunch along the Highline.Read more

Well goodbye New York-it’s been a blast. We had a great breakfast before we headed off the the American Museum of Natural History
Another place were we could have spent a long time but we had to get back to pick up our baggage for the airport
