• Day 377 - Key West

    May 14, 1975, North Atlantic Ocean

    Our ship left Tampa quietly during the night. We were sailing on the high sea again when we woke up.

    Around noon, we could even see the lighthouse of Key West in the distance as we headed for Miami. Other big vessels were sailing the same course. The sea was calm and flat as a mirror. We were excited with anticipation.

    Dinner was the usual soup, followed by fish, rice, and refried beans. The waiter seemed a little grumpy to me. Maybe he wasn’t too happy to return home to his wife and kids.
