Another beautiful, relaxing, fun-filled day on the Pacific Ocean. Every day, the chef has a special menu. Yesterday was various cheesecakes. Today was donuts. I didn't get a picture of the cheesecakes, but I'll get a picture next time he does the cheesecake bar.Okumaya devam et

Day 7. Arrived in Honolulu at 8 a.m.

My friend, Bev, whom I met when I was stationed here, met me at the pier and chauffeured me around for a nostalgic day. We went to her bowling alley at formerly Barbers Naval Air Station for a great breakfast and caught up on life. She took me up to my old home, and I saw that it's still standing and still has a beautiful view. We also went to Pearl Harbor Naval Station. She got me back to the ship in time to watch the Steelers game with Beth, Deb, and Trish at a bar on the waterfront. (Lousy game!) I loved riding around and seeing my old stomping grounds!Okumaya devam et

Kilohana Plantation. Formerly a sugar cane plantation, it's now an educational plantation with animals, fruit trees, hula lessons, and rum. We had a 45 minute guided train ride around the plantation and stopped along the way to feed some of the animals. Then we had a hula demo (I was a volunteer) and walked around the stores. Unfortunately, we couldn't do rum tasting because it's Sunday. 😩 Beth ended the day in town at a local bar to watch football.Okumaya devam et

Day 10. We crossed the equator today.

We participated in the King Neptune equator crossing ceremony. We went from polywag to Shellback.

Day 11. Chillin' on the Pacific

We took a class from a world-renowned sushi chef today. I learned so many great tips, and you'll see my new skills put to work below. They gave us another galley tour too. Afterwards, since it was a dreary day, we decided to watch a movie in our room, so we picked Rocky Horror Picture Show. I've never seen it, but Deb, Beth, and Trish have and said they'd demonstrate all of the sound effects and audience participation effects. It was a lot of fun. We also had time to play another couple of rounds of 5 Crowns. Then a fabulous dinner at Manfredi's, the Italian specialty restaurant on board. Also, we got good news today. We are going to Bora Bora after all. Yay! We're skipping Moorea so we can go to Bora Bora on Sunday.Okumaya devam et

Day 13. Arrived in Papeete, Tahiti at 0900 today. The emergency medical patient was taken to the hospital by 1015 after customs cleared the ship for visiting the island. Deb went snorkeling, Trish went to a museum, and Beth and I took a jeep tour up the mountain and into a volcano crater and saw many beautiful waterfalls along the way. It was a very uncomfortable, bumpy 4 hour ride. My Fitbit told me I had over 16,000 steps towards the end of the trip, but actually, it was 16,000 potholes that we hit...😲 After dinner we joined half of the ship on the pool deck to watch "South Pacific" under the stars. And it's not a coincidence that we're going to see the Bloody Mary's bar from South Pacific tomorrow in Bora Bora. 😄Okumaya devam et

Day 17. Went snorkeling from a glass bottom boat and had a nice BBQ lunch. The swells were pretty high, and it was a bit tricky getting on and off the tender. Came back and went for a quick sauna, snow room, and jacuzzi.Okumaya devam et

Glowworm Cave. It was like looking up at a million stars. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take pictures bc it's a sacred place for the Maoris.
