Bratislava -> Budapest

Am Abend erreichten wir Budapest. Am folgenden Morgen ging der erste Weg in die Apotheke. Nichtsdestotrotz wollten wir die Stadt anschauen und fuhren mit der Tram Richtung Innenstadt. Zuerst ging es hoch zur alten Zitadelle. Auch wenn der Weg für einen von uns anstrengender war und Anna noch kein Frühstück und Kaffee hatte und deswegen eventuell etwas nörgelte, hatten wir tolle Ausblicke auf die Stadt! Danach gab es ein köstliches Frühstück/Lunch und einen wohlverdienten Kaffee. Gut gestärkt und bester Laune machten wir uns auf in das Felsenkrankenhaus-Atombunker-Museum. Unter dem Stadtteil Buda gab es früher schon einige Höhlen und Gänge. 1939 sollte dann ein Luftschutzkrankenhaus gebaut werden. Dieses wurde 1944 eröffnet und behandelte viele Verletzte aus dem 2. Weltkrieg. Es diente Budapest noch ein zweites Mal als Krankenhaus und wurde später als Atomschutzbunker umgebaut bzw. erweitert. Heute ist es spannend zu besuchen, und man kann einige Originale aus den 1940er Jahren entdecken. Danach ging es oberirdisch im Stadtteil Buda weiter. Die Gebäude und vor allem die Dächer sind wow! Der Tag verging wie im Flug, und nachmittags fuhren wir auf die "Pest"-Seite. Dort schauten wir uns den Heldenplatz mit all seinen Figuren an. In der Nähe fanden wir die bisher größte Eislaufbahn mit angrenzendem Jahrmarkt. In der Stadt war einiges los, und mit einem Abschluss-Eis in Rosenform ging der Tag zu Ende! Es ist jedes Mal aufs Neue spannend, was unsere Reise zu bieten hat ✨.

#From Vienna, we went to nearby Bratislava. We actually found a parking spot quickly, and Anna wanted to buy a parking ticket. She did, but unfortunately, she entered the wrong parking zone at the machine 😵‍💫. So, we first had to find this parking zone and another parking spot there. After re-parking, we went to the city center. Through Michael's Gate, we arrived directly in the pedestrian zone. We passed some shops and souvenir stands. The Christmas market was still very well attended, and there were all sorts of delicious dishes. In a side street, we treated ourselves to a very delicious chimney cake 🤤. Afterwards, we visited St. Martin's Cathedral, which has beautiful stained glass windows. There are so many amazing, breathtaking churches and cathedrals everywhere.
In the evening, we reached Budapest. The next morning, the first way led to the pharmacy. Nevertheless, we wanted to see the city and took the tram towards the city center. First, we went up to the old citadel. Even though the way was more strenuous for one of us and Anna hadn't had breakfast and coffee yet and therefore might have grumbled a bit, we had great views of the city! Afterwards, there was a delicious breakfast/lunch and a well-deserved coffee. Well-fortified and in the best of moods, we set off for the Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum. Under the Buda district, there used to be some caves and tunnels. In 1939, an air-raid hospital was to be built. This was opened in 1944 and treated many injured people from World War II. It served Budapest a second time as a hospital and would later be converted or expanded as a nuclear shelter. Today it is exciting to visit, and you can discover some originals from the 1940s. Afterwards, we continued above ground in the Buda district. The buildings and especially the roofs are wow! The day flew by, and in the afternoon we drove to the "Pest" side. There we visited Heroes' Square with all its figures. Nearby we found the largest ice rink so far with an adjacent fair.
