Buddha Hill and Maoi replicas

Today, our journey outside the City took us to quite a unique scene. In the middle of the country side, a concrete hill surrounds a 13 meter high Buddha. (In the Summer, this hillside is blooming with over 150, 000 fresh lavender plants, but today it was covered in snow.) What's unique is that the artist chose not to completely enclose the hill, he left the top of the Buddha's head protruding. Then he decided to add a row of gigantic Maoi replicas and a small stonehedge. The whole experience left is us awestruck....and hungry. So we drove a little further to a beautiful lake side onsen community which specialized in grilled whole fish. Yum!Read more
