    Day 18: Odense

    July 26, 2019 in Denmark ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Today is the day we leave this little spot of paradise. We take the train to Hans Christian Andersan's hometown: Odense. Famous for his children's stories, everything here is erected in his name: the parc, the statues, etc. (Only slightly overwhealming).

The town is surprisingly beautiful, and we find our way into a beautiful park where a limping duck tries to make friends with us. As we have no bread to feed her (because we wish her the best), she slowly limps away. We decide to take a nap, and are suddenly woken up by the blaring speakers announcing a children's show in 5 min. We wake up and head towards the noise, where we discover a little castle. The music starts and the resuscitated Hans appears through the doors, followed by a troupe of singing children. We feel completely immersed in one of his fairytales! My favorite part is when a tiny butterfly kid, wearing swimming goggles and a helmet with antennas, mounts a flower pot to beat his wings. I have no idea what story that was, but I want one of those.
