• Alberobello

At the Locorotondo railway station Janice struck up a conversation with a man, Damieno, waiting to also go to Alberobello for business. He then invited us for coffee and lemon cream filled pastries!
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing some of the 1500 Trulli buildings concentrated in Alberobello. They date back to the 1400's and are mortar-less limestone constructions which could be quickly disassembled if required.
We enjoyed lunch away from the main tourist area before taking the bus back to Locorotondo.
We visited the Old Town area which is nice, but doesn't compare to Dubrovnik or Split Old Towns.
We farewelled Rob & Janice at the railway station at 1845. It was a delightful time with the Cains!
We then bought food at a supermarket for breakfast tomorrow and lunch. We have a challenging rail journey from Locorotondo to Matera in the morning - 3 trains and an 11 min transfer between the first 2 trains! Wish us luck!
