Day 2: Europoort - Soest

108k. A good day but super hot on the bikes at 32-34 degrees. At least no headwind and we bowled along with mostly a sidewind. Slow going through Rotterdam, Gouda and Utrecht.

The route went through incredibly green, wooded areas. It always surprises just how green NL is despite it’s population density. And strangely, it was mostly green, not yellow.. I suppose due to the watercourses everywhere.

As expected the cycling infrastructure in Utrecht was amazing. Loads of suburban traffic lights had distant detectors to change the lights so you could continue, even when we could have done with a traffic light breather.

We need the weather to cool… time to check the forecast for tomorrow.Read more
