Sunny morn & now back to snow

      February 15, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

Up, packed and changed the bed. It’s been such a comfy room! Very fortunate indeed to be invited to stay.

Even able to sit outside for one last morning - this we will miss.

Delightful pink lemonade/gin with a huge tuna sandwich in a beautiful airport outdoor lounge, will hold both of us until Vancouver. Cold and snowy week awaiting us back home.

And so we say goodbye to Ken and Rita as they spend 2 more months in the desert. Great to get to know Palm Springs. Have loved our time here. Need to be passionate about golf like Rita!

      Torrential rain!

      February 14, 2019 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

Woken by all our phones screaming ”Evacuate due to flash flooding” notices. And man did it rain!! More rain in one day since 1943! The culverts/storm washes were absolutely raging full of water.

      Good yoga and meditation session.

Made great veggie and chicken soup.

Went over to have a look at “washes” and could not believe the amount of water rushing down them!!- pretty scary.

Ran into a coffee shop for a cappuccino and muffin before heading to a movie. In a chilly theatre, watched “What men think” - good fun.

More water viewing on way home - absolutely amazing! and actually pretty frightening to see the power of water - and sooo fast!!

Home to see the news of the storm, soup, then on to Train!! Having a blast with that game. And yup! I am the winner! With a score of 222 😄 for the week!

Being “in the moment” with the streamed CBC National. Comfy end to a great week.

      Hiking desert mountains!

      February 13, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Up to Ken and Rita off biking/we chilled and then did a stroll about the neighbourhood enjoying the vegetation.

Nice to have time to do a bit of yoga each day.

Rich then off to visit/have lunch with his friend Vince formerly of Husky.

We decided to hike up behind into the mountains. Body hanging in there- even after 18 holes of golf yesterday. Happily satisfying. Great desert hills, flowers, smoke bush...

Fabulous eve - first to the Tropicale for its Happy Hour - appies looked great and the people watching was superb but saved ourselves for dinner at Woody’s. Great musicians, sax, clarinet and drums with old time singer Michael Dees. Normally, this music would not be my fav at all but I really enjoyed this musical adventure. Very talented crew! And singer really enjoyed engaging with the crowd. Great rib meal for 3 of us. Felt homey with a young couple sitting next to us, celebrating his birthday - and the audience chiming in.

Really enjoying moments reading an awesome book The Alice Network.

Super nice weather but the rain is on its way!

      I actually GOLFED!!

      February 12, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Up to an empty house LOL! Rita and Ken had skipped over to the golf course we were to play on to have breakfast (included in the golf game) and to check on the golf timing as there was a delay due to Frost!!

Had a nice relaxing tea/coffee by the pool until their return then made our way to the golf course - pretty nervous about this whole thing! Been likely 20 years since I’ve golfed. Buffet lunch all in LOL!

Lousy first hole and I thought - OMG! it’s going to be a long way around 18 holes. I was delighted however that my arms were strong and felt good! Even hitting Rita’s driver and often got it down the fairway a little bit! Rita playing well as was Ken! Rich began adjusting to his limitations with his shoulder issue and around we went - 4 1/2 hours and the chilly evening settled in and we completed! New shoes and clothes were perfect. Thinking I may have to do more of this golfing thing heh LOL.

Back for showers and freshening up.

Headed over to Saguaro hotel for a delicious margarita and nachos. Happy hour is THE big thing in this town - everyone is out and about! Checked out Woody’s - packed and reservations made for next day. Back for nibblers and a round of Trains - Ken won.

      Swimming!

      February 10, 2019 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

Relaxed getting up time after another deep sleep. Nice yoga time in Rita’s yoga space then a chill/reading time with oatmeal by the pool.

Then a swim! Felt so wonderful to have a really good swim again, with no pain! Knee working well.

To town for a super Mexican lunch meal at Las Casueles on Main Street- deelish and the live music was so much fun! Loved my blood orange margarita! R had cervesa and tequila!! Rita her usual cran soda and Ken also a cervesa.

Found some cool shirts for the boys! and Rich.

Fun grocery shopping time next - love shopping for groceries in different countries- yup, even the States! Ken got cake to celebrate his Dad’s 100th birthday LOL!

Back for lazy time - guys into the cutest little hot tub! Me to my diary and just lazing about. Could barely function b4 lunch - slowing so much!! Body feeling so much better in the heat.

Ended the eve with another round of Mexican Train - so fun! AND always nice to win THREE rounds of 4 LOL. I like it! Lots of golf talk as Rita heads out tomorrow to play in her league.

      What an eve!

      February 9, 2019 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

Fabulous slow getting up, yoga, slow breakfast and reading time by the pool.

Off to lunch in Town to see a bit of Palm Springs, buy Rits some “dancing shoes” grabbed lunch, then back to get ready for a night out!

And oh what a night!! First stop Bernie’s! for dinner. Have we been transported back in time?? Had an appie dinner while listening to a piano player/crooner who was mostly on tune/on key 🙄 then off to the show!

I had forgotten the story of “Rent”. We all spent a good part of the first act establishing plot in our minds. An amazingly talented cast in a beautiful theatre. Act 2 made more sense and was awesome and flew by - long production! Love “525600” song!!!

      Fell into bed - pooped!!

      Landed in Palm Springs!

      February 8, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

Nice to have friends in warm places!

Up and off to airport dressed in cool summer clothes! Freezing!! until we squished onto the plane.

Nice to have a short ride to our destination for a change!

Rita and Ken there to meet us in a wee lovey airport that is Palm Springs. Warm air!!

And sandwiches by the pool! Oh this warm air feels fabulous!

Off on a bike ride around the neighbourhood ending up at ACE motel - all these reno’d old fashioned places down here - unique! Dang it when R fell off his bike and re-injured his shoulder - again 🙄.

Yummy BBQ’d steak meal etc and many laughs. Learned a new game Mexican Trains! Super fun!! Ken won real game - R the practice game. Fell into bed for a huge sleep.

      Leaving Tirol and heading home

      October 20, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Up to yet another beautiful day, packed, one final phenomenal breakfast - 3 rooms of food will be missed LOL!

Delighted to find heart gifts for the Library Board which a darling receptionist wrapped for us overnight. Had to bring a rucksack from this wonderful hotel (The Boglerhof) home! And a water bottle ❤️.

Off to Munich, all went smoothly for dropping car and time for a German beer and pretzel, flight to Amsterdam was easy. Nice to know our way around Schiphol airport to our hotel. Appie supper in the cool Lobby bar with TWO €15 gorgeous gins and fell into bed.

Thought of going into Amsterdam but chose to get all checked in (export tax receipts submitted etc.) and were glad we didn’t push to go into city - busy airport and lineups. Had a nice last time in massive Lounge then what seemed to be a quick flight back to Home.

Just an excellent and happy two weeks!!
