    Boda boda

    When I lived here in the mid-70s, there were very few motor bikes - called pikipikis. I had an off-road bike (great fun!)

    Now they are ubiquitous. There are an estimated 3 million of them. They are used as taxis. The best I've seen so far is..... driver + 2 passengers + a child squashed in between .... and also for transporting goods.

    The present system originated on the Kenya / Uganda border. Giving paying customers a ride to the border. They would tout for custom by shouting "border, border" in Kiswahili "boda boda"
