Huayhuash

Completed 5 days / 54 km of the Huayhuash circuit. Our original plan was to do 8 but Sam doesn't like bogs, rain, or rivers, and got a bit ill so we called it at day 5 having already made quite a good way! Almost the whole hike is above 4,000 m with each day having a pass to get over, the highest of which was over 5,000 m on day 4!

The hike is incredibly rural, most of the time the nearest village is a days walk away, and the village we stopped in day 5, Huayllapa, had almost no way out of it. Luckily we met another group who were leaving and their guide gave us a lift to the nearest town with a bus (4 hours away!). Took us a full day to get back to Huaraz where we pigged out on well deserved pizza after 5 days of noodles and garlic parmesan mash potato.Weiterlesen
