• Undara Lava Tubes

    29–30 jun. 2024, Australië ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

From Chilligoe, we planned our next few days of travel and activities. Pinnarendi Station was our first stop for the night, being close to Undara Lava Tubes and well-known for its stone-baked sourdough bread and pizzas. We had hoped to stay a couple of nights for Pizza, but unfortunately, they were booked out due to the school holidays in Qld. We did have a lovely breakfast, though, before heading to Undara.
The area we are travelling through has a long history of volcanic activity. We took the Wind-tunnel Tour, which involved walking through tunnels formed by a lava flow that has cooled slowly. These tunnels have really interesting colouring and texture and are home to the Bent-wing micro-bats, pythons, and huntsman spiders.
