This is a pretty little cave with a pool of geothermally heated water that was used as a bathing place until the 1975 - 84 Krafla volcanic eruptions changes to the magma pathways resulting in water Czytaj więcej

Next stop near Lake Myvatn is Hverir a geothermally active area of Iceland. Here we saw bubbling mud pools, fumaroles and evidence of the richness of sulfur in this area (both sight and smell). We Czytaj więcej
Next stop is Mt Krafla that last erupted in 1984. Magma can be found just 2.1 km below the Earth's surface at this location. It's an ideal location for the power plant located close by.

Today we are up for a long drive. We decided to change plans and head out to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Our first stop on the route is the Glaumbaer Farm which has traditional turf houses that were Czytaj więcej
After driving most of the day, we arrived at Mt Kirkjufell. Time for some photography fun!
Another windy night but calm this morning after the storm.
We stopped for coffee at the cafe that was used in the Walter Mitty movie as the Pappa Jons Pizza Bar. It had photos around the window showing how the cafe was transformed.
