    DESTINATION NORTH
    Day 24
    21/07/2026
    Lillefjord Wasserfall,
    Norwegen

    DESTINATION NORTH
    Day 24
    July 21, 2026
    Lillefjord Waterfall,
    Norway

Shortly after arriving in brilliant sunshine at the bridge crossing over to Havøysund, the weather turns; a dark blanket of clouds looms over the road back.

A spectacular drive—up and down through the finest colors of summer—shifts into a gray spell, though the journey remains exciting nonetheless.

Today, I feel a profound sense of gratitude for being able to share in this life, to gaze upon this beautiful landscape, and to be a small part of this magnificent creation.

We encounter reindeer with their calves; this adds a whole new dimension of gentleness and tenderness to the scene. The mothers behave much more cautiously and are less stubborn.

Once I have to take my afternoon penicillin at 4:30 PM, the active part of my day is over. I grow tired and exhausted, preferring to retreat and rest.

We make dinner, I take Hilde out again, and we quickly find a place to sleep. Tonight, we are parked in a lot alongside a few other campers—far enough from the road noise, yet not too close to the waterfall and its hiking trail.

There won't be much hiking today, as the rain has moved in and settled right over our heads. In moments like these, a small blue bus quickly becomes a cozy haven of truly pleasant feelings.
