    A smaller turbine, on one of Wellington's highest spots, was first erected in 1993 as part of a research project to assess how turbines would perform in New Zealand. It was replaced with the present version in 2016 and produces enough power for around 490 average homes.
    Wellington now has full-sized wind farms, with much bigger turbines, some of which can be seen from the Brooklyn turbine - third and fourth photos. Some of the South Island can also be seen in the distance in the fourth photo.
