Day 1 - SJPdP to Borda via the Pyrenees

It was my 1st official day on Camino today! Not quite how I would have imagined it, but I made it nonetheless!! 🙏

I headed out of SJPdP with Karen... when they say 'magic happens' on the camino, she's part of that magic today. With this nasty bug still lingering, it was a really challenging climb, and it was nice to hear her encouraging words 💚

Karen was staying at Orisson, about 1km, before my accommodation at Borda. So when we got to Orisson, she kindly insisted on walking me to my hostal AND carrying my bag! 🙏

OMG, the views are breathtaking, and the photos don't do them justice! We scored with the weather today, too... in fact, about half an hour after arriving at Borda, it started raining and then hailing!

This auberge is stunning 🧡 ... I had a nanna nap this arvo, and then we had our communal dinner ... my appetite is slowly coming back! Good thing because I'm going to need the energy tomorrow for the rest of the ascent, then the descent into Roncesvalles.

I've also opted to have my bag transported tomorrow - learning to be kind to myself and accept help when offered! 🙌Læs mere
