Day 3 - Roncesvalles to Zubiri

The albergue in Roncesvalles wreaks history and beauty. It's a very well-oiled machine, but it was a bit too many people for my liking! I hung around this morning, so I was one of the last ones to leave and also to avoid the race out of town!

Today was a pretty big day... but oh, so beautiful! I never dreamt it would be this pretty! We were again blessed with beautiful sunny weather! Heaps of ups and downs, cows, horses, field mice, lizards... even a small snake (unless it was a legless lizard?!🤔)

Towards the end, we were navigating dragon teeth type rocks for about 5km downhill. Lots of concentration is required... but I was so so grateful we weren't coming down a couple of days ago when it was pouring with rain! These rocky surfaces would have been so treacherous!

I heard a pilgrim slipped and fell to his death a few days ago, not far from here! 🙏Read more
