Riad arrival

Easy pick up and mental drive through the twisty turny streets of Marrakesh to arrive at our Riad home in the centre of the Medina. Surprise dinner by host and dietary nutritionist Julien with 4 courses of authentic dishes where we had to guess the ingredients - courgette and orange cumin mousse triangle, turkey cinnamon and quince tagine(best and most moist turkey I ever had), and aubergine lemon juice sorbet. Crazy. Followed by tour from Hussein of the proper authentic 16th century Berber riad (translation: internal garden) with limestone interior walls to keep humidity out, and beautifully decorated with authentic Moroccan bespoke wooden carved doors and hundreds of little hang out spots and tiny secret doors and passages to navigate the whole place, as traditionally would have housed a large family of all generations. This specific one had been a royal family riad! Luke’s French speaking has got us very far and my thirst for a beer (which can’t be served within the medina as there are Mosques on every corner) has had many laughs. Brekky on the rooftop with veggie eggs, yoghurt, fruit, jams, pancakes and obvi some Moroccan tea has set us up for a big day ahead!Læs mere
