    Zacatecas Tacos + Tequila+Bourbon

    2018年3月21日, アメリカ ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

A delicious start to our vacation. Margaritas and tacos in the Knob Hill district

Nob Hill centers on buzzing Central Avenue, a stretch of the iconic Route 66 packed with brewpubs, taquerias, hookah bars and pizzerias. Food trucks line the street late into the night, catering to crowds from local dance clubs and music bars. Quirky clothing boutiques and antiques stores dot the area, and small galleries exhibit contemporary artworks. The retro Guild Cinema shows independent and art-house movies.もっと詳しく

    Frontier Restaurant

    2018年3月22日, アメリカ ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Huevos Rancheros for our first New Mexico breakfast with one of their famous cinnamon rolls for dessert.

Editing to add that the huevos rancheros and tortillas were amazing. The cinnamon roll, meh....

“Situated across from the University of Mexico, this Albuquerque fixture has been serving a Southwestern menu featuring homemade flour tortillas, breakfast burritos and its signature sweet rolls since 1971. An eclectic assortment of artwork adorns the old-school space, which seats more than 300 people in its five dining rooms.”

Piedra Marcadas Canyon - You can see over 400 petroglyphs.

“Petroglyph National Monument protects one of the largest petroglyph sites in North America, featuring designs and symbols carved onto volcanic rocks by Native Americans and Spanish settlers 400 to 700 years ago. These images are a valuable record of cultural expression and hold profound spiritual significance for contemporary Native Americans and for the descendants of the early Spanish settlers.”もっと詳しく

Bonnie BenedictWe learned that rattlesnakes are very shy and, given a choice, will retreat. They shake their rattles when they’re scared. And, more people die from bee stings than rattlesnake bites. 😃

    Santacafé

    2018年3月23日, アメリカ ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

    Our 2nd stop.

The restaurant is in an 1850s house with a courtyard. The site originally housed a church as well as a brothel in the back that was being run by one of the reverends. When it was found out, the reverend was defrocked but turned adversity into opportunity and became a politician. The well outside in the courtyard had to be covered up for fear of it being poisoned due to the brothels proximity to the church. They dug another well inside, which is now exposed in the floor of the restaurant.

Italian food is among the most popular in the world, but what sets Osteria d'Assisi apart from the rest is their commitment to serving authentic Italian flavors as well as our passion for outstanding hospitality.” We ate in the private room upstairs that George Clooney reserves to entertain family and friends.

The elixirs are representative of these historic recipes and span the time period 1000 BC to the mid-1900s AD.

We sampled a variety of the elixirs and then got to choose our favorite to enjoy with freshly whipped cream in a demitasse cup.

    Happenstance!

    2018年3月23日, アメリカ ⋅ 🌙 7 °C

We were headed back to our hotel after watching the sunset from rooftop Bar Alto and happened to run into two friends, Mike and Cindy, from our foodie tour today. They had gone seeking frito pie for a late night snack. They’d gone to a store in town which had advertised frito pie “As seen on TV” but they were already closed. They were told to go to Del Charro. We joined them for frito pie, margaritas and some wonderful conversation. What a lovely way to end our day.

And coincidentally, a fun fact we learned today on our foodie tour was that Del Charro’s Bar was used in the series Longmire. Phhhhhhh!

Hard to decide what to have for breakfast this morning. It all sounded delicious. Will have to come back.

I had the Yogurt Parfait. Layers of yogurt, homemade walnut pepita granola with dates and dried fruit and fresh seasonal fruit.

Brian had the Carnitas Plate - two eggs and pulled pork, topped with green chile and grilled onions. Served with tortilla, hash browns and beans.

    Governor's Palace Artist's Market

    2018年3月24日, アメリカ ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

The entire north side of Santa Fe's downtown plaza is taken up by the 1610 Palace of the Governors, the oldest continually occupied public building in the United States. Its front adobe facade is completely shaded, and in this "portal," the Native American Vendors Program has been operating for over six decades. A daily lottery ensures a rotating selection of artisans from the various pueblos throughout New Mexico.

Despite all the beautiful wares, we came away empty handed.
